Meet Our Chaplain
Mary DeWitt
I am a retired Congregational Care Pastor, having served at Harderwyk Ministries in Holland, Michigan, for the past 33 years.
I have lived in the Holland Area my entire life, until I moved to Zeeland in 2020. I attended Holland Christian Schools and Holland Heights Christian Reformed Church and finally went to college when I was 55, having graduated from Cornerstone University.
My family includes my husband Tim (a “Yooper,” born and raised in Marquette), along with our son Nate and Ashleigh Dewitt and our daughter Leah and Adam Locker. We have five grandchildren: Harper, Maryn, Mia, Jackson, and Jovie – the joys of my life! I am thankful they all live close by, and I spend as much time with these precious miracles as possible.
I have had several roles at Harderwyk Ministries over the years: Children’s Ministry Director, Missions Coordinator, Ministries Coordinator, Discipleship Coordinator, Kids Hope Director, and finally Pastor of Congregational Care. I have also worked as a medical transcriptionist and at various restaurants in the hospitality field.
My favorite pastimes are spending time with my grandchildren, reading, knitting, cooking, walking, fishing, spending time at our summer place in Ludington, and I LOVE writing!
I thrive on serving Jesus and have come to treasure the spirit of gratitude and peace that often comes through my conversations with older adults. I am truly blessed by getting to know their history, and, more importantly, how their faith has carried them through their lives to this point. We have so much to learn from each other, and from God, as we navigate this world around us.
I trust our times together will be as enriching for you as they have been for me as we move along, continuing to encourage and support each other in this journey we call life, all the while relying on our forever-faithful God.
